Bogus ‘Majorca Holidays’ Facebook Page Using Bora Bora Trip as Bait

According to a Facebook Page called “Majorca Holidays”, you can win a holiday package for two to Bora Bora just by sharing and adding the comment  “Done”.

The post claims that the previous winner of the package has not responded,  so the prize is being given away again.   It features images depicting a luxury island resort.

At the time of writing, more than 260,000 people had shared the post, and almost 200,000 had commented.

But, the post is yet another  Facebook giveaway scam and the Facebook Page that published it is fraudulent. The Page is not giving away a Bora Bora holiday. Those who choose to participate in the fake promotion have no chance  of winning any prizes.

The post is designed to gather large numbers of likes and promote the bogus Facebook Page via shares and comments.

The scam Page will later be used to launch survey scams and other types of fraudulent activity, this time to a much larger pool of potential victims.

The scammers  stole the images used in the post from legitimate travel websites. The main image depicts the Maldives rather than Bora Bora.

Giveaway scams are  widespread on Facebook. If one of these holiday giveaway posts hits your News Feed, don’t be tempted to participate. You have no chance of winning the promised prize, and you will be helping scammers exploit your Facebook friends.
