Tiny House Giveaway Facebook Scam

According to a post that is currently appearing  on Facebook, you can win one of seven tiny houses just by liking and sharing. The post, which was published  on a Facebook Page that calls itself  “Holiday Club”, claims that the winners will be chosen at random on 21st June.

The post makes the absurd claim that the 7 tiny houses are being given away because they are unsealed and cannot be sold.

In fact, the post is fraudulent.   No houses, tiny or otherwise, are being given away. Those who participate have no chance of winning anything at all.

The post is a typical like-farming scam designed to  collect large numbers of Page likes as quickly as possible.   The scammers use the lure of attractive  prizes to trick people into liking and sharing. In this way, such fake posts can spread rapidly across Facebook and the scammers will gain a great many new Page likes.

Once the bogus Facebook Page has substantially increased its like numbers via a scam giveaway, the scammers can then use it to launch further scam attempts, this time to a much larger audience of potential  victims.

Alternatively,   the scammers may sell the Facebook Page on the black market to other scammers. The more likes a Page has the more it will likely sell for.

Scams like this one are very common on Facebook.   Be wary of any post or page that promises valuable prizes just for liking, sharing, commenting, or filling in surveys.   And, should you be tempted to participate just in case the giveaway is real, keep in mind that these scams are certainly not harmless.
