Lamborghini Giveaway Facebook Scam Post

Detailed Analysis

According to a message that is currently being passed around Facebook, users can have a chance to win one of ten Lamborghinis just by liking and sharing a promotional image and listing what colour car they would want should they win by posting a comment on their walls. The post, which originates from a Facebook Page that presents itself as an official Lamborghini Page, features an image depicting a row of the luxury cars.

However, the Page has no official connection to Lamborghini and it is not giving away ten of the vehicles as claimed.   In fact, the supposed giveaway is a  like-farming scam  designed to gather likes for the Facebook Page and promote it to a much wider audience via Facebook shares and comments.

The image used in the bogus post has circulated in  various other contexts  and has no connection to the supposed giveaway.

By launching such fake giveaways, the unscrupulous operators of the Page can drive many new users to their Page and the Page’s like numbers will grow accordingly.  The Page can subsequently be used to launch more scam campaigns. Pages with high like numbers can also command high prices on the black market.

Like-farming scams are very common on Facebook. Pretending to give away high-end cars is a  favourite like-farmer tactic.

Any Page that claims that you can win an expensive prize such as a car just by liking and sharing should be treated with suspicion. If one of these like-farming scam messages comes your way, do not click any links that it contains.   Do not further the goals of these scammers by participating in their bogus promotions.
