According to this email, which purports to be from American Express, the company has recently received a request to change the phone number listed on your account. Supposedly, the ‘security notification’ message is to confirm that you did request such a change.<\/p>\n

The email explains that, if you did not make the request, you should click a link to review the listed phone number.<\/p>\n

However, the email is not from American Express. The claim that the phone number for your account has been changed is a lie designed to trick you into clicking the link.<\/p>\n

If you do click, you will be taken to a fraudulent website that includes stolen graphics and other components designed to make it look like a genuine American Express page. \u00a0<\/p>\n
