According to this email, which purports \u00a0to be from the Australian Federal Police (AFP), you have received a subpoena. Supposedly, you have \u00a0been ‘invited to a law court by the judge because of crime commitment’ and should click a button to download information on the case and then visit the nearest police station.<\/p>\n

However, the email is not from the AFP and the claim that you have \u00a0received a subpoena is untrue. Links in the email open a compromised website that harbours malware.<\/p>\n

The \u00a0AFP is warning people about the emails via a post<\/a> on its Facebook Page.<\/p>\n

We’ve been receiving quite a few calls from the public in relation to an email that’s doing the rounds.<\/em><\/p>\n

This email purports to be from the AFP, serving a subpoena on the recipient. There are several links in the email which may be malicious.<\/em><\/p>\n

Don’t click on them.<\/em><\/p>\n

Just delete the email from your Inbox and Deleted folder.<\/em><\/p>\n

The AFP does not issue subpoenas via email.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This campaign is similar to an earlier attack<\/a> \u00a0in which victims received fake AFP emails claiming to be traffic infringement notices. \u00a0Clicking links in the emails \u00a0downloaded \u00a0ransomware.<\/p>\n
