It notes that your deactivation request will be processed shortly. \u00a0 <\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<!-- HS Net Top Content Responsive --><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\n     style=\"display:block\"\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-0355887770822260\"\n     data-ad-slot=\"4870821038\"\n     data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p>But, claims the message, if you have no knowledge of such a request, you can click a link to cancel the account deactivation.<\/p>\n<p>However, the message is not from any legitimate &#8220;Email Administrator&#8221; and the claim that your account is about to be deactivated is a lie.  \u00a0Instead, the email is a phishing scam designed to steal your account login credentials.<\/p>\n<p>If you click the link in the hope of saving your account from deactivation, you will be taken to a fraudulent website that asks you to enter your email address and email account password.  \u00a0After submitting your login details, you may then see a browser message stating that you have successfully \u00a0cancelled the pending deactivation.<\/p>\n<p>At this point, you may think that you&#8217;ve \u00a0now dealt with the issue and get on with your day.<\/p>\n<p>But, meanwhile, criminals \u00a0can use the information you provided to hijack your email account. Once they have gained access, the criminals can use your account to send spam, scam, and malware emails in your name.<\/p>\n<p>If the same login credentials provide access to linked services such as online storage or app stores, the scammers may also be able to steal personal documents and make purchases via your account.  \u00a0In fact, if they manage to collect enough \u00a0of your personal and financial information, the crooks may be able to steal your identity as well.<\/p>\n<p>Your email service \u00a0provider will never send you a generic message that demands that you click a link to rectify a supposed account problem. Be wary of any such emails that you receive.<\/p>\n<p>Scams like this are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hoax-slayer.com\/request-terminate-microsoft-account-phishing.shtml\">very common<\/a> and have been around in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hoax-slayer.com\/email-deactivation-warning-scam.shtml\">various forms for many years<\/a>.
