outlets, a sequel to the popular 2004 movie <em>The Notebook \u00a0<\/em>is set to be filmed in \u00a0Des Moines, Iowa. Or, depending on which version you read, Tucson, Arizona, Jacksonville, Florida, Akron, Ohio, \u00a0Springfield, Missouri, and a host of other US cities.<\/p>\n<p>The news has &#8216;The Notebook&#8217; fans all a flutter. But, alas, the stores are unfounded. &#8216;The Notebook 2&#8217; is not in \u00a0the works, at least at the time of writing. In fact, the stories are all derived from a stable of related clickbait \u00a0fake-news websites that, between them, are churning out an endless stream of celebrity flavoured &#8211; and entirely fictional &#8211; nonsense.<\/p>\n<p>All of the fake-news sites publishing the stories use \u00a0very similar formats and recycle versions of the same nonsensical stories. And they all include the following disclaimer on their &#8216;Contact Us&#8217; pages:<\/p>\n<p><em>[Name of website] \u00a0is a \u00a0fantasy news site.  \u00a0All news articles on [name of website].com are satire or pure fantasy.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The same set of websites has also published a <a title=\"No, Tom Cruise Is NOT Moving To South Queensferry, Scotland\" href=\"http:\/\/hoax-slayer.net\/no-tom-cruise-is-not-moving-to-south-queensferry-scotland\/\">series of false \u00a0stories<\/a> claiming that various celebrities have shocked fans \u00a0by announcing that they are moving to an obscure location away from the limelight.<\/p>\n<p>These hoax \u00a0sites \u00a0present their bogus material in news format and bury their disclaimers where most visitors will not see them.  \u00a0Thus, many visitors are tricked into believing that the stories are true and subsequently share them with their friends.<\/p>\n<p>It is always wise to <a title=\"Identifying Fake-News Articles and Websites\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hoax-slayer.com\/identifying-fake-news-articles.shtml\">verify information<\/a> that comes your way before sharing it. To check, you can \u00a0conduct a search on a reputable news aggregator service such as Google News.
