There have been a number of different versions of this chain letter<\/p>\n

reported to Sophos. Some versions of the chain letter claim that visitors to a cinema in<\/p>\n

Australia have been infected, but this has been confirmed as a hoax by the Australian Red<\/p>\n

Cross Blood Service.<\/p>\n

The most common version of the chain letter reads as follows:<\/p>\n

Please read and forward to anyone you know<\/p>\n

Department.I have been asked by state and local authorities<\/p>\n

to write this email in order to get the word out<\/p>\n

to car drivers of a very dangerous prank that is<\/p>\n

occurring in numerous states<\/p>\n

Some person or persons have been affixing hypodermic needles to<\/p>\n

the underside of gas pump handles. These<\/p>\n

needles appear to be infected with HIV positive blood.<\/p>\n

In the Jacksonville area alone there have been 17 cases of<\/p>\n

people being stuck by these needles over the past five<\/p>\n

months. We have verified reports of at least 12<\/p>\n

others in various states around the country.<\/p>\n

It is believed that these may be copycat incidents due to<\/p>\n

someone reading about the crimes or seeing them reported<\/p>\n

on the television. At this point no one has been<\/p>\n

arrested and catching the perpetrator(s) has<\/p>\n

become our top priority. * Shockingly, of the 17<\/p>\n

people who where stuck, eight have tested HIV<\/p>\n

positive and because of the nature of the disease, the others<\/p>\n

could test positive in a couple years.<\/p>\n

Evidently the consumers go to fill their car with gas, and<\/p>\n

when picking up the pump handle get stuck with the<\/p>\n

infected needle. IT IS IMPERATIVE TO CAREFULLY CHECK THE HANDLE<\/p>\n

of the gas pump each time you use one.<\/p>\n

LOOK AT EVERY SURFACE YOUR HAND MAY TOUCH, INCLUDING UNDER<\/p>\n

THE HANDLE. If you do find a<\/p>\n

needle affixed to one, immediately contact your local<\/p>\n

police department so they can collect the evidence.<\/p>\n

poking that was on one of the seats. When she got up to see what it was, she<\/p>\n

found a needle sticking out of the seat with a note attached saying \"You have<\/p>\n

just been infected by HIV\".<\/p>\n

The Disease Control Centre (in Melbourne) reports many similar events in many<\/p>\n

other cities recently. All tested needles ARE HIV Positive. The Centre also<\/p>\n

reports that needles have been found in the cash dispensers at Public Banking<\/p>\n

Machines (ATMs).<\/p>\n

We ask everyone to use extreme caution when faced with this kind of situation.<\/p>\n

All public chairs\/seats should be inspected with vigilance and caution before<\/p>\n

use. A careful visual inspection should be enough. In addition, they ask that<\/p>\n

each of you pass this message along to all members of your family and your<\/p>\n

Recently, one doctor has narrated somewhat a similar instance happened at the<\/p>\n

Priya Cinema in Delhi to one of his patients. A young girl engaged and about to<\/p>\n

be married in a couple of months was pricked while the movie was going on. The<\/p>\n

tag with the needle had the message \"Welcome to the World of HIV + family\".<\/p>\n

Though the doctors told her family that it takes about 6 months before the<\/p>\n

virus grow strong enough to start damaging your system and a healthy victim<\/p>\n

could survive about 5-6 years. The girl died in 4 months, perhaps more because<\/p>\n

of the \"shock-thought.\"<\/p>\n
