Phishing Scam"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>An information stealing <a href=\"http:\/\/hoax-slayer.net\/phishing-scams-anti-phishing-information\/\">phishing scam<\/a> targeting \u00a0Santander Bank customers is currently being distributed via email. \u00a0 <\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<!-- HS Net Top Content Responsive --><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\n     style=\"display:block\"\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-0355887770822260\"\n     data-ad-slot=\"4870821038\"\n     data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p>The email, which has the subject line &#8220;Santander Alerts Service \u00a0Update&#8221;, claims that the bank is introducing new online banking authentication procedures to help protect your private information.  \u00a0Because of this change, claims the message, you are required to click a link to confirm your online banking details.<\/p>\n<p>Supposedly, you will not be able to access your account until the update is completed.<\/p>\n<p>But, Santander did not send the email and the claim that you must update your account details is untrue.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, this phishing scam is an attempt to steal a large amount of your personal and financial information.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Here is what the scam email looks like:<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div>Subject: SANTANDER ALERTS SERVICE UPDATE<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: small;\">Valued Customer,<\/p>\n<p>Please note that starting from July 27, 2017 we will be introducing new online banking authentication procedures in order to protect the private information of all online banking users.<\/p>\n<p>You are required to confirm your online banking details with us as you will not be able to have access to your accounts until this has been done.<\/p>\n<p>As you&#8217;re already registered for online banking all you need to do is to confirm your online banking details.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Confirm your details<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Once you&#8217;ve completed this you&#8217;ll be able to manage your money whenever you want, giving you more control of your finances.<\/p>\n<p>Regards<br \/>\nCustomer Service<br \/>\nSantander Bank<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>If you fall for the trick and click the link, you will be taken to a fraudulent website that has been built to emulate Santander Bank&#8217;s genuine login page.  \u00a0Once you &#8220;log in&#8221; They&#8217;ll use this information to hijack your bank account and steal your money, conduct fraudulent transactions with your credit card, and attempt to steal your identity.<\/p>\n<p>If you receive an email like this one, do not click any links that it contains.
