{"id":2540,"date":"2019-04-06T19:34:06","date_gmt":"2019-04-06T19:34:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.syyhoaxanalyzer.com\/?p=2540"},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T17:00:00","slug":"P&O-Cruises-'Win-a-Gift-Bag'-Facebook-Scam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.syyhoaxanalyzer.com\/?p=2540","title":{"rendered":"P&#038;O Cruises &#8216;Win a Gift Bag&#8217; Facebook Scam"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>According to a post currently appearing on Facebook, you can share and comment to win a gift bag containing a P&amp;O Cruise for four people. \u00a0 <\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<!-- HS Net Top Content Responsive --><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\n     style=\"display:block\"\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-0355887770822260\"\n     data-ad-slot=\"4870821038\"\n     data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p>The post features photographs supposedly depicting the cruise gift bags.<\/p>\n<p>However, the post is fraudulent. \u00a0 It has no connection to P&amp;O and no amount of sharing and commenting will get you the promised \u00a0gift bag. \u00a0 The images in the post <a href=\"https:\/\/onemileatatime.com\/review-qatar-airways-a350-inaugural-flight-gate-party\/\">were stolen from 2015 news reports<\/a> about a Qatar \u00a0Airways inaugural A350 flight. The bags contained a \u00a0Qatar Airways A350 model aeroplane and an inaugural flight certificate.<\/p>\n<p>The bogus giveaway post is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hoax-slayer.net\/facebook-like-farming-scams\/\">designed to promote and gather likes<\/a> for the \u00a0fraudulent \u00a0P&amp;O Cruises Facebook Page that published it. \u00a0 By using such giveaway promotions the scammers can substantially increase the popularity and reach of their fake Page.<\/p>\n<p>They can then use the Page to perpetrate further scams, this time to a greatly increased pool of potential victims.<\/p>\n<p>Other fake giveaway posts on the scam Facebook Page claim that you must click a sign-up button to verify your prize entry.<\/p>\n<p>However, clicking the button takes you to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hoax-slayer.net\/what-is-a-facebook-survey-scam\/\">various dodgy survey websites<\/a> that try to trick you into divulging your personal information. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\n     style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\"\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\n     data-ad-layout=\"in-article\"\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-0355887770822260\"\n     data-ad-slot=\"9162856233\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p> Scammers regularly create fake Facebook Pages that pretend to be giving away \u00a0P&amp;O \u00a0 cruises and other prizes. \u00a0 Another version falsely claims to be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hoax-slayer.net\/20-golden-envelopes-fake-po-cruise-giveaway-on-facebook\/\">giving away golden envelopes containing cruise tickets<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If one of these scam posts comes your way do not like, share, or comment on it. Don&#8217;t help the scammers by interacting \u00a0with their fraudulent giveaways.<\/p>\n<p>The \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pandocruises\/\">genuine \u00a0P&amp;O Cruises Facebook Page<\/a>, which has Facebook&#8217;s blue verification \u00a0icon to prove its authenticity, does not mention any of these supposed giveaways. P&amp;O has warned users about the scams via comments on its Facebook Page, noting:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>For future, please always look for our page (the blue tick), and stop all correspondence with any fake pages claiming to be us.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The company also notes that it always reports the fake Pages to Facebook and does everything it can to have them removed.
