{"id":2316,"date":"2019-04-06T19:34:00","date_gmt":"2019-04-06T19:34:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.syyhoaxanalyzer.com\/?p=2316"},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T17:00:00","slug":"Mini-Cooper-Giveaway-Facebook-Scam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.syyhoaxanalyzer.com\/?p=2316","title":{"rendered":"Mini Cooper Giveaway Facebook Scam"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>According to a post being shared on Facebook, you can win a 2019 Mini Cooper just by sharing and commenting and liking the \u00a0Page the post was published on. \u00a0 <\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<!-- HS Net Top Content Responsive --><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\n     style=\"display:block\"\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-0355887770822260\"\n     data-ad-slot=\"4870821038\"\n     data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p>Supposedly, the previous winner of the Mini had to refuse the prize for personal reasons, so it is \u00a0being given away again. \u00a0 The post features a photograph of a Mini Cooper decorated with a large gift ribbon.<\/p>\n<p>But, alas, both the post and the Facebook Page it comes from are fraudulent. No amount of liking, sharing, and commenting will give you even the slightest chance of winning the pictured vehicle. There will be no winners other than the scammers who created the bogus giveaway.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, this is just one in a series of very similar Facebook scams that have all<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hoax-slayer.net\/mini-cooper-giveaway-scam-targets-singaporean-facebook-users\/\"> falsely promised to be giving away the very same Mini Cooper<\/a>. \u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hoax-slayer.net\/mini-cooper-countryman-giveaway-on-facebook-is-a-scam\/\">Versions of the scam<\/a> first began appearing back in 2016. Apparently, the scammers who create these scam pages are too lazy to use new images so they just recycle \u00a0the same photograph over and over again.<\/p>\n<p>And, of course, the scammers stole the image in the first place. \u00a0 The same image has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pinterest.com.au\/pin\/480548222710172658\/\">circulated in various other contexts<\/a> for several years.<\/p>\n<p>Why do scammers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hoax-slayer.net\/facebook-like-farming-scams\/\">create such fake giveaways<\/a>? \u00a0 Simply as a means of promoting their dodgy Facebook Pages to a wider audience and collecting a great many new Page likes. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\n     style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\"\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\n     data-ad-layout=\"in-article\"\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-0355887770822260\"\n     data-ad-slot=\"9162856233\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p> Once the Page has increased its potential reach in this way, the scammers can use it to promote <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hoax-slayer.net\/what-is-a-facebook-survey-scam\/\">survey scams<\/a> or other types of fraud, this time to a much larger audience of potential victims.<\/p>\n<p>Or, the scammers may decide to sell the Facebook Page on the black market to other scammers. \u00a0 The more likes a Page has the more money it can be sold for.<\/p>\n<p>Such scams are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hoax-slayer.net\/category\/scams\/facebook-scams\/\">very common<\/a>. Other variants \u00a0have falsely claimed to be giving away many other car makes and models as well as Mini Coopers. \u00a0 If one of these scam posts comes your way, don&#8217;t be tempted to participate. \u00a0 You have zero chance of winning a car and you will be just helping scammers exploit people and make money out of their fraudulent activities.<\/p>\n<h2>An example of the scam
