According to a post currently being shared across Facebook, you can get a free ‘lifetime pass’ to KFC by clicking a link. Supposedly, this ‘limited time offer’ will allow you to ‘enjoy KFC for lifetime’ and is a way for the \u00a0company to celebrate its 85th Anniversary.<\/p>\n

However, the post has no association whatsoever with KFC and those who click the link and participate will receive not so much as a chicken nugget, let \u00a0alone a free lifetime pass. In fact, the post is a typical Facebook survey scam<\/a> designed to trick \u00a0you into spamming your friends and Facebook groups and divulging your personal information via dodgy online surveys.<\/p>\n

If you click the link in the hope of getting your lifetime of free chicken, you will first be taken \u00a0to a fraudulent web \u00a0page \u00a0designed to look like it is part of Facebook. The page \u00a0claims that, to get your free pass, you must share the page link with \u00a0your Facebook friends and send it to 5 Facebook groups you belong to.<\/p>\n

After you spam your friends and groups as requested, the page will display a ‘final step’ popup that claims that you must complete a survey before receiving your prize. \u00a0The popup will host a list of survey links for you to click. \u00a0The links open various survey websites that promise further prizes in exchange for filling in surveys and supplying your name, home address, \u00a0email address, home phone number, and mobile phone number. But, fine print on the sites will explain that, by participating, you are giving permission for your personal information to be shared with site sponsors and third-party marketing groups. Thus, you will soon find that you begin receiving unwanted and annoying phone calls, text messages, emails, and surface letters promoting various products and services.<\/p>\n

The \u00a0scammers who created the fake \u00a0KFC page and posts will earn money via affiliate marketing programs each time a victim provides their information on one of the survey sites.<\/p>\n

Survey scams<\/a> like this one are very common<\/a> on Facebook. \u00a0Be wary of any post or page that claims that you can win vouchers, coupons, gift cards, holidays, cars, airline tickets, or other valuable prizes just \u00a0by liking, sharing and participating in online surveys.<\/p>\n
