Supposedly, the sender of the message has been paid to kill you by &#8216;someone you know very well&#8217;. But, claims the email, this &#8211; apparently double crossing &#8211; hired assassin \u00a0has decided to offer you the \u00a0chance to save your life by sending him $8000. Supposedly, the assassin is a member of the Deadly Networks, a \u00a0group responsible for 9\/11 and the London bombings. The assassin claims that he has his men watching your every move and warns you to not even think of going to the police. He suggest that you get back \u00a0to him if you want to live and promises that he will provide you with a tape of the friend planning \u00a0your demise that you can later take to the police.<\/p>\n<p>But, you can relax. The person who contacted \u00a0you is not an assassin who has been paid to kill you. And he and his men are not spying on you as claimed. In fact, the email&#8217;s sender is just a run-of-the-mill advance fee scammer intent on tricking you into sending your money and personal information. And, he no doubt sent the very same email to hundreds of thousands of other recipients in the hope of netting at least a few victims.<\/p>\n<p>If you respond to the scammer, he will then try to intimidate you into sending the initial $3000, ostensibly to stop him proceeding with your murder. At this point, of course, he knows nothing about you. But, during your correspondence with the scammer, he may trick you into revealing personal information about yourself.  \u00a0And, once he has some initial details such as your name and location, he may be able to discover more information about you via publicly available records. He can then twist \u00a0this information around in later messages to make it appear that his henchmen really are watching you.  \u00a0He may even send you \u00a0some tapes or transcripts to convince you that somebody really did put out a contract on your life. Thus, he may convince you \u00a0to send the \u00a0further $5000. In fact, he will probably keep demanding more and more money until your run out of funds to send or at last realise that you are being scammed.<\/p>\n<p>And, during the course of the scam, the criminal may \u00a0have tricked you into revealing a lot of personal and financial information and he may later use this information to steal your identity.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Hitman Payoff Scam Email\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hoax-slayer.com\/hitman-scam.shtml\">&#8216;Hitman&#8217; scams<\/a> like this one have been \u00a0<a title=\"Pay Up or I'll Kill You Scam Email\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hoax-slayer.com\/pay-or-die-scam.shtml\">hitting inboxes<\/a> in various forms for at least a decade.
