It also features a 24-hour Turkey Safety Hotline number that people who have bought a turkey can call to get more information about the supposed virus threat.<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully, however, the story is \u00a0<a class=\"norm\" title=\"'Millions of Thanksgiving Turkeys Recalled Due to Avian Flu' Fake News Story Goes Viral\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ibtimes.co.uk\/millions-thanksgiving-turkeys-recalled-due-avian-flu-fake-news-story-goes-viral-1476140\">utter nonsense<\/a>. There has been no such turkey recall and the CDC has not issued any statements about an avian virus outbreak among turkeys. And there are no credible reports that support the claims in the story.<\/p>\n<p>The \u00a0story was originally published \u00a0on the fake-news website National Report. National Report apparently considers itself satirical although it is certainly not deserving of that label. In fact, the material published on the site is nothing more than drivel disguised as news. \u00a0 \u00a0 Nothing published on the site should be taken seriously.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the Wyoming Institute of Technology is not a real entity but rather another &#8216;satire&#8217; site used by National Report to \u00a0<a class=\"norm\" title=\"NONSENSE - '1 in 3 Americans Implanted With RFID Chips'\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hoax-slayer.com\/hoax-1-in-3-americans-implanted-rfid-chips.shtml\">attempt to back up its spurious claims<\/a>. As with National Report itself, nothing published on WIT has any credibility whatsoever.<\/p>\n<p>And, calling the supposed Turkey Safety Hotline actually connects people to the notorious Westboro Baptist Church. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\n     style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\"\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\n     data-ad-layout=\"in-article\"\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-0355887770822260\"\n     data-ad-slot=\"9162856233\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p> With more and more<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hoax-slayer.net\/four-quick-ways-to-spot-fake-news-stories\/\"> \u00a0fake-news sites appearing<\/a> \u00a0online, it is wise to verify any &#8216;news&#8217; items that come your way before you share them with others. Usually, doing a search via a news aggregator such as Google News will quickly reveal if a story has any credence.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, if the turkey recall story was true, mainstream news outlets around the world would have extensively covered it and there would be official government and health organization warnings about the threat.<\/p>\n<h2>Example<\/h2>\n<div class=\"example\">\n<p><strong>Millions of Thanksgiving Turkeys Recalled: Is Your Family Safe? \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>National Report; The CDC has confirmed that millions of turkeys have been recalled due to safety concerns over an avian virus that the birds may be harboring. The virus is related to human influenza virus but was thought to lack the ability to infect humans. However, it appears that the virus has recently developed the ability to move from bird hosts into humans.
