Names, dates, dollar amounts and other details vary.<\/p>\n<div class=\"aside1\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>The people sending these emails are not really CIA officers and the claim that they have found your details in a CIA case file is a lie. Even if only a few people fall for the ruse and pay up, the scheme will turn a profit for the criminals.<\/p>\n<p>If you receive one of these messages, do not respond. Just hit the delete key.<\/p>\n<div class=\"example\">\n<hr \/>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">An Example of the Scam Email<\/h2>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Case # [numbers vary]<\/p>\n<p>Distribution and storage of pornographic electronic materials involving underage children.<\/p>\n<p>My name is [names vary] and I am a technical collection officer working for Central Intelligence Agency.<\/p>\n<p>It has come to my attention that your personal details including your email address (varies) are listed in case # [numbers vary].<\/p>\n<p>The following details are listed in the document&#8217;s attachment:<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Your personal details,<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Home address,<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Work address,<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 List of relatives and their contact information.<\/p>\n<p>Case # is part of a large international operation set to arrest more than 2000 individuals suspected of paedophilia in 27 countries.<\/p>\n<p>The data which could be used to acquire your personal information:<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Your ISP web browsing history,<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 DNS queries history and connection logs,<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Deep web .onion browsing and\/or connection sharing,<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Online chat-room logs,<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Social media activity log.<\/p>\n<p>The first arrests are scheduled for April 8, 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Why am I contacting you?<\/p>\n<p>I read the documentation and I know you are a wealthy person who may be concerned about reputation.<\/p>\n<p>I am one of several people who have access to those documents and I have enough security clearance to amend and remove your details from this case.
