Various messages \u00a0purporting to be from the UK’s Driver & Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) are claiming that you are eligible for a refund from a previous payment and should click a link to complete a refund application.<\/p>\n

However, the messages \u00a0are not from the DVLA and there is no refund. The messages, which can arrive via SMS or email, are phishing scams designed to steal your personal and financial information.<\/p>\n

If you follow the link in one of the scam messages, you will be taken to a fraudulent website that has been designed to look like it belongs to the DVLA. A fake “refund claim” form asks you to supply your name and address details, your driver’s license details, your credit card numbers and other sensitive information. Some versions of the scam have even asked recipients to supply a scanned copy of their driver’s licence.<\/p>\n

The information you supply will be collected by criminals and used to steal your identity and conduct fraudulent transactions in your name. \u00a0<\/p>\n
