A Facebook Page called “iPhone X” is supposedly giving away 50 iPhone X phones to users who like, share, and comment with their desired phone colour.
The post, which includes an image featuring iPhones in various colours, exhorts you to hurry up and enter and promises that winners will be announced via Facebook messenger on October 27th.
But, alas, the post is just another Facebook like-farming scam. No amount of liking, sharing, and commenting will give you a chance to win an iPhone. Despite its claims, the Facebook Page is not giving away any iPhones.
The fake giveaway is designed simply to gather large numbers of likes as quickly as possible. Once the Page has successfully built its like numbers via the bogus giveaway, it can launch further scams, this time to a much larger potential audience.
Or, the owners of the fake Page may sell it to other scammers. The more likes a Facebook Page has the more it will likely sell for on the black market.
Scams like this are very common on Facebook.
