It instructs you to click a button labelled &#8220;Update Account \u00a0Apple ID&#8221; to continue using your Apple ID service.<\/p>\n<p>However, the email is not from Apple Support and your Apple ID has not been locked as claimed.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, the email is a phishing scam designed to steal your personal and financial information.<\/p>\n<p>If you click the button, a fraudulent website will load \u00a0in your browser. The site features the \u00a0Apple logo and other graphics and formatting to make it look like the real Apple website.<\/p>\n<p>Once on the fake site, you will be asked to log in using your Apple email address and password.<\/p>\n<p>Next, you will be asked to complete an &#8220;Account Verification&#8221; form that requests your name and \u00a0address details, your credit card numbers and the security questions and answers associated with your account.<\/p>\n<p>After submitting the bogus form, you will see a final message claiming that you have successfully updated your account. However, you will usually be informed about this via a notification when you attempt to log in.
