The email, \u00a0which is addressed to \u00a0&#8220;Dearest Esteemed \u00a0User&#8221;, suggests that you kindly view an attached \u00a0PDF for details about your grant.<\/p>\n<p>The PDF claims that Google ran an email beta test and your email address was chosen as the winner of  \u00a3864,000.  \u00a0The document instructs you to contact the \u00a0Google Foundation Board at once with your personal details to begin the processing of the grant.<\/p>\n<p>But, alas, the email is fraudulent.  \u00a0The Google Foundation is the charitable arm of Google, but it did not send the email and you have not been selected \u00a0to receive a grant. There is no grant.<\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\n     style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\"\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\n     data-ad-layout=\"in-article\"\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-0355887770822260\"\n     data-ad-slot=\"9162856233\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p>In fact, the email is an <a href=\"http:\/\/hoax-slayer.net\/advance-fee-lottery-scams-international-lottery-scam-information\/\">advance fee scam<\/a> designed to trick you into sending your money and personal information to online criminals.<\/p>\n<p>If you contact the &#8220;board&#8221; as instructed, you will be told that you must send money to cover various processing fees before the grant can be sent to you. The scammers will claim that the fees must be paid upfront and cannot be taken out of the grant money for legal reasons. And, they will warn that if you don&#8217;t pay the requested fees quickly, you will forfeit your prize and the grant will be given to somebody \u00a0else.<\/p>\n<p>The criminals will demand that you send more and more money until you run out of funds or at least realise that you are being conned.  \u00a0Then, the crooks will disappear \u00a0with your money and you won&#8217;t hear from them again.  \u00a0And, of course, you will never receive the promised grant, which never existed in the first place.<\/p>\n<p>To make matters worse, the criminals may have collected enough of your personal and financial \u00a0information to steal your identity as well.<\/p>\n<p>Advance fee <a href=\"http:\/\/hoax-slayer.net\/google-anniversary-winning-notification-advance-fee-scam\/\">scams like this<\/a> are <a href=\"http:\/\/hoax-slayer.net\/category\/scams\/advancefee\/\">very common<\/a> and have been stealing money and personal information from \u00a0people for decades.  \u00a0The scam messages take many forms. Do not trust any message that claims that you have won a large sum of money via a lottery, promotion, or grant scheme that you have never even entered or applied for. Real organisations do not award large cash prizes or grants by randomly selecting a \u00a0name or email address they \u00a0found online.  \u00a0Any \u00a0message that makes such a claim is certain to
