The image depicts a sculpture by the late Italian artist, Gino De Dominicis.  \u00a0The sculpture was unveiled in Grenoble, France in 1990 and is now housed in an Italian art museum. text-align:center;\"\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\n     data-ad-layout=\"in-article\"\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-0355887770822260\"\n     data-ad-slot=\"9162856233\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p> The message claims the image depicts the unearthed skeleton of Ghatotkacha, a character from the ancient Indian Sanskrit epic, Mahabharata.<\/p>\n<p>According to the post, National Geographic Society researchers found the 80-foot skeleton during excavations in northern India.<\/p>\n<p>But, not surprisingly, the message is just a hoax. The image itself is genuine, but it depicts a sculpture rather than a real human skeleton. The sculpture is the work of the late Italian artist, \u00a0<a title=\"Gino De Dominicis\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dominique-levy.com\/exhibition\/gino-de-dominicis\">Gino De Dominicis<\/a>, who died in 1998.<\/p>\n<p>The work, entitled \u00a0<a title=\"GINO DE DOMINICIS'S GIANT SKELETON\" href=\"http:\/\/www.juxtapoz.com\/street-art\/skeleton\">&#8216;Calamita Cosmica<\/a>&#8216;, was unveiled at the Center National d&#8217;Art Contemporain in Grenoble, France, in 1990. The skeleton then travelled to various exhibits in several countries before finding a permanent home at Rome&#8217;s MAXXI museum of contemporary art.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, alas, the image shows a modern art piece rather than the worldly remains of a character in an ancient story.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, this message is a reworking of \u00a0<a title=\"Giant Skeleton Hoax\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hoax-slayer.com\/giant-skeleton.html\">an earlier hoax<\/a> \u00a0that also claimed that National Geographic discovered the giant skeleton of Ghatotkacha.
