\"Fake-News\"<\/a><\/p>\n

According to a report<\/a> that is making its way around the Internet via social media, a famous racehorse in Saudi Arabia is set to be executed because he was found to be homosexual. Supposedly, the 12 million dollar horse, the property of a Saudi prince, will be euthanised after he was \u00a0‘caught in sexual intercourse with another stallion’ on two separate occasions.<\/p>\n

The report \u00a0includes a photograph of the horse with its \u00a0owners. The caption to a second image in the report claims that the decision ‘was \u00a0 \u00a0meant to send a clear message that homosexuality, under any form, would not be tolerated in the kingdom’.<\/p>\n

But, thankfully, the claims in the report are untrue. The \u00a0story is a work \u00a0of fiction that comes from the notorious fake-news website World News Daily Report (WNDR).<\/p>\n

The image used in the \u00a0fake article is taken from another website<\/a> and actually depicts a mare named \u00a0Nashwa El Safinat that was \u00a0awarded the WAHO Trophy for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia back in 2009.<\/p>\n

Nothing published on WNDR should be taken seriously. The site, which apparently considers itself to be satirical, includes the following disclaimer<\/a> in its About Us section:<\/p>\n

WNDR assumes however all responsibility for the \u00a0satirical \u00a0nature of its articles and for the fictional nature of \u00a0their content. All characters appearing in the articles \u00a0in this website \u00e2\u20ac\u201c even those based on real people \u00e2\u20ac\u201c \u00a0are \u00a0entirely fictional \u00a0and \u00a0any resemblance between them and any persons, living, dead, or undead is purely \u00a0a miracle<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

However, \u00a0the site’s articles are presented in news format and many visitors \u00a0will not dig down into the \u00a0About Us section to see the disclaimer. Thus, many people tend to share the site’s reports in the mistaken belief \u00a0that they are real news.<\/p>\n

There are a number of fake-news sites that, between them, churn out a constant stream of drivel<\/a> disguised as news. It is thus a good idea to verify any strange or unusual reports<\/a> that come your way before you share them with others. Searching a news aggregator such as Google News will usually reveal if a circulating story is true.<\/p>\n
