According to this message, Facebook’s servers have been very busy lately and the company is asking users to help by sharing the same message to everyone on their contact list.
Supposedly, you must share the message to confirm that you are an active user or your account will become inactive and you will lose all of your contacts.
However, the claims in the message are utter nonsense. Facebook will certainly not make your account inactive just because you haven’t passed on a silly message.
It is just a Facebook version of a hoax that has circulated in various forms for decades and targetted several different online companies.
It appears that the hoax is being fueled by a March 2019 Facebook outage in which many users around the world were unable to access Facebook or Instagram.
At the time of writing, Facebook has not released details on the exact cause of the outage. However, you can rest assured that sending on an absurd hoax message will do nothing to help the situation.
If this hoax crosses your news feed, do not share it. And let the sender know that the claims in the message are untrue.
