Absurd ‘Servers Very Busy’ Hoax Circulating Rapidly After Facebook Outage

According to this message, Facebook’s servers have been very busy lately and the company is asking users to help by sharing the same message to everyone on their contact list.

Supposedly, you must share the message to confirm that you are an active user or your account will become inactive and you will lose all of your contacts.

However, the claims in the message are utter nonsense. Facebook will certainly not make your account inactive just because you haven’t passed on a silly message.



It is just a Facebook version of a hoax that has circulated in various forms for decades and targetted several different  online companies.

It appears that the hoax is being fueled by a March 2019 Facebook outage in which many users around the world were unable to access Facebook or Instagram.

At the time of writing, Facebook has not released details on the exact cause of the  outage. However, you can rest assured that sending on an absurd hoax message will do nothing to help the situation.

If this hoax crosses your news feed, do not share it. And let the sender know that the claims in the message are untrue.

An example of the hoax message:

This message is to inform all our users that our servers have been very busy lately, so we ask you to help solve this problem. We ask active users to forward this message to everyone on their contact list to confirm active Facebook users if they do not send this message to all their Facebook contacts, and their account will remain inactive with the result of losing all their contacts Move this message. Your smartphone will be updated in the next 24 hours and will have a new design and a new color to chat. Dear Facebook users, we will update to Facebook starting at 23:00 pm. Until 5:00 am of this day. If you do not send it to all your contacts, the update will be canceled and you will not have the possibility to chat with your Facebook messages
