Facebook Page claims that Kevin M. James, “manager of Ford Mustang” is giving away two of the cars on March, 12th 2017. Supposedly, for a chance to win, you just need to like and share the giveaway post and add the comment “Done”.
Analysis:
The Facebook Page is bogus. It is not giving away any cars, and Kevin M. James is certainly not the “manager of Ford Mustang”. Those who participate by liking, sharing, and commenting have no chance whatsoever of winning a Mustang or any other prize.
In fact, The Facebook Page is a typical scam designed to harvest large numbers of Facebook likes as quickly as possible. Once the Page has gathered a great many likes, it can then be reused to launch other types of scams. Or, it might be sold on the black market to other scammers.
The image used in the scam post has been stolen from online reports about a radio show host picking up a new car. The man’s name is NOT “Kevin M. James”.
In fact, the name “Kevin M. James” has been used in several other car giveaway scams on Facebook. In alternative versions of the scam, “Kevin” is supposedly the owner of Audi or a manager at BMW. In these scams, he again promises participants the chance to win luxury vehicles just for liking, sharing, and commenting.
