Outline:
Facebook Page called “GiveAways Daily” claims that you can win various valuable prizes including laptops and high-end four-wheel drive vehicles just by liking, sharing and commenting.
Analysis:
The Facebook Page is yet another scam designed to accumulate large numbers of Facebook likes as quickly as possible. It is one of a series of related “deal” scam Pages that all promise participants the chance to win valuable prizes. Other scam pages in the same network have been named “Daily Deal”, “The Weekly Deal” and “Weekly Deals”. These bogus Facebook Pages tend to cross promote each other.
All of these Pages are scams and those who participate have no chance whatsoever of winning anything at all.
Once the Pages have collected a large number of likes, they can then be reused to launch other types of scam or promote other scam Pages. Alternatively, they might be sold on the black market to other scammers.
Like-farming scams like this one remain very common.
