‘We Have Arranged Payment’ Malware Email

According to this supposed receipt email, the “Account Team” has arranged payment for you.

The email does not identify what company the alleged Account Team is from nor what the supposed payment is for. It urges you to click a link to view or print the receipt.

However, the email is not a real receipt and no legitimate “Account Team” sent it.  

Instead, the message is a scam designed to trick you into installing malware. Clicking the link opens a compromised website that harbours a malware threat.   Once on the site, you will be prompted to download and open a file that supposedly  contains a copy of the receipt.

However, opening the file will install the malware on your computer.

If you receive one of these emails, do not click any links or open any attachments that it contains.   Bogus receipt malware emails like this are very common.
