‘Vin Dominic’ Giveaway Scam Page Targeting Facebook Users

According to a Facebook Page that calls itself ‘Vin Dominic’ you can win prizes such as gift cards, cars, and large sums of money just by liking, sharing, and commenting before clicking a link to download a copy of the latest Fast and Furious movie.

Posts on the Page feature photographs of Vin Diesel and other  Fast and Furious actors along with images depicting the supposed  cash giveaways.

But, in fact, the Facebook Page is just another celebrity giveaway scam. No amount of liking, sharing, commenting,  and downloading will get you any cash or prizes. The only winners  here are the scammers who created the bogus Facebook Page.

And, this version is even dumber than some of its predecessors, which I must say is quite an achievement.   Supposedly,  ‘Vin Dominic’ is the famous person handing out all the promised cash and prizes. But, in fact, “Vin Dominic’ is not even a real person.  In the Fast and Furious movies, actor Vin Diesel plays the part of a   leading character called Dominic Toretto. The scammers who created the fake Page have simply amalgamated the names of the actor and the character he plays to create the generous but entirely fictional person who is supposedly giving away all the money.

Moreover, some of the scam posts claim that you can click  to download a copy of Fast and Furious 9.   In fact, the  ninth movie is not even out yet and will not be released  until 2020.

But, alas, despite the  obvious absurdity of the scam, many hapless Facebook users are commenting “WIN” and, presumably, clicking the download link as instructed.

By tricking people into liking, sharing, and commenting, the scammers ensure that their fake posts spread far and wide and get seen by an ever-growing pool of potential victims.

If you click  the link in the bogus posts, you will be taken to a suspect video hosting website that  asks for your personal and financial information.  Supposedly, the movie downloads are free  but the site insists that you provide your credit card details as a way of validating your account.

Often, new versions of these fake celebrity pages are published  as soon as older ones are removed. If one of these fake Fast and Furious giveaway posts comes your  way, do not interact with it. And do not click  on it.

Moreover, do not do business with any company  that allows itself to be promoted via outright scams such as bogus celebrity giveaways.   A company  that uses such tactics certainly should not be trusted with your credit card numbers or any other personal information.
