In fact, the stories are all derived from a stable of related clickbait fake-news websites that, between them, are churning out an endless stream of celebrity flavoured – and entirely fictional – nonsense.

These hoax sites present their bogus material in news format and bury their disclaimers where most visitors will not see them. Thus, many visitors are tricked into believing that the stories are true and subsequently share them with their friends.
It is always wise to verify information that comes your way before sharing it. To check, you can conduct a search on a reputable news aggregator service such as Google News. If the story is true, you will likely find a number of mainstream or entertainment site reports about it.
