According to a post that is going viral on social media, popular US fast food restaurant WhataBurger will be closing all its stores as of February 2018.
But, US burger lovers will no doubt be pleased to hear that the claims in the post are untrue. Whataburger is not closing down.
In fact, the message is just a silly prank. If you click on the post you will be taken to a prank website that informs you that “you got owned” and urges you to create your own prank using a template on the site.
However, many people share such posts without clicking on the link and thus believe the story and never realise that they have been “owned”.
Whataburger has confirmed that the closing claims are untrue via a message on its Facebook Page, which notes:
An article is being circulated stating that Whataburger will be closing all stores. This article is a hoax, and we aren’t going anywhere.
Very similar pranks have targetted other fast food outlets, including McDonald’s and Dunkin Donuts.
