A message, which is currently circulating via social media, suggests that a 15-year-old episode of animated TV series ‘The Simpsons” predicted the now famous scene in which US President Trump laid hands on a “glowing orb” during his May 2017 trip to Saudi Arabia.
The message features a screen shot from the supposed 2002 episode along with a news photograph of the real scene. It includes the caption:
This Simpsons cartoon aired 15 years ago in 2002 the actual photo was taken last month…somebody explain this shit to me.
But, in fact, the explanation is quite straightforward albeit a lot less intriguing. The screenshot was not taken from a 15-year old The Simpsons episode and the show did not predict Trump’s orb touching antics at all.
Instead, it was taken from a new film posted on the official The Simpsons Facebook Page on May 27, 2017, several days after the orb event actually took place.
The orb scene appears as a picture on the wall about 6 seconds into the short film:
