11 States Agree To Implement And Enforce Motorcycle Curfew
11 states working in conjunction with the U.S Department of Transportation (U.D.O.T) have agreed to implement an ordinance requiring motorcyclists to adhere to a mandatory curfew between the hours of 11:00 PM – 6:00 AM.
Detailed Analysis:
A report currently making its way around the Internet via social media is causing ire and consternation among at least a few motorcyclists in the United States. The story, which is couched as a news report, claims that eleven states ‘have agreed to implement an ordinance requiring motorcyclists to adhere to a mandatory curfew between the hours of 11:00 PM and 6:00 AM’. Supposedly, these states are working in conjunction with the US Department of Transport and the new rules are being implemented in an effort to reduce motorcyclist fatalities.
However, bikers will be no doubt pleased to hear that the claims in the report are nonsense. No such curfew is set to be implemented. The report is a work of fiction that comes from a fake-news website called ‘Associated Media Coverage’. Although relatively new, the site has already churned out several nonsensical stories, including one that falsely claims that the FDA is banning electronic cigarette vapour liquids from July 2016.
Nothing published on the Associated Media Coverage website should be taken seriously. Unfortunately, at this point, the site has not seen fit to publish any sort of disclaimer that might alert readers to the fact that its reports are fiction rather than real news. This omission, along with the fact that the site presents its fictional material in news format, means that many visitors believe the reports and share and comment on them accordingly.
For the record, there are no credible news articles that support the report’s motorcycle curfew claims. Of course, if true, such a major story would have received a great deal of coverage from mainstream news outlets in the US and around the world.
More and more fake-news websites have appeared online in recent years. If some strange or unusual story comes your way, it is well worth verifying it before you share it with your friends. A quick search via a news portal such as Google News will usually reveal if a circulating story is true.
