According to a post that has been circulating the interwebs since early 2017, a hapless morgue employee has been accidentally cremated. A link in the post opens a report that, at least at first glance, looks like a news story.
Supposedly, the Beaumont, Texas morgue worker took a nap on a stretcher after working a long shift. But, alas, claims the story, he was later taken to the crematory and burned to death by an inexperienced worker who mistook him for a corpse.
Thankfully, the rather horrific story is just a work of fiction. The incident described did not take place.
The report comes from the notorious fake-news website World News Daily Report. Nothing published on the site is intended to be taken seriously. The site includes the following disclaimer at the bottom of its articles and on its About Page:
World News Daily Report assumes all responsibility for the satirical nature of its articles and for the fictional nature of their content. All characters appearing in the articles in this website – even those based on real people – are entirely fictional and any resemblance between them and any person, living, dead or undead, is purely a miracle.
The story has been republished on several other fake-news “satirical” websites in the months since it first appeared on World News Daily Report and thus continues to circulate via social media.
