WORLDWIDE – NASA has confirmed that the Earth will experience 6 days of almost complete darkness and will happen from the dates Tuesday the 16 – Monday the 22 in December. The world will remain, during these three days, without sunlight due to a solar storm, which will cause dust and space debris to become plentiful and thus, block 90% sunlight.
Detailed Analysis
According to a ‘news’ report that is being distributed via social media, the Earth will experience 6 days of total darkness between June 30 and July 6 2015 due to a solar storm. Supposedly, NASA chief Charles Bolden confirmed the event and has asked people to remain calm.
The report includes a video featuring Charles Bolden.
However, not surprisingly, the report is fiction. NASA has not announced any impending blackout. No such event is set to occur in June, July, or any other month.
One version of the hoax story came courtesy of a fake-news website The Racket Report. The site apparently fancies itself as satirical and includes the following disclaimer buried in a hidden ‘About Us” page:

An earlier version of the same story, published by the notorious fake-news website Huzlers.com, claimed that the 6 days of darkness was to occur in December 2014. Quite obviously, that event did not take place. It appears that the fake-news pranksters have decided to recycle the story with more current dates.
In the video included in the current version, Charles Bolden does talk about family preparedness in emergencies but makes no mention of planetary blackouts whatsoever. The video can be viewed in its original context on the NASA website.
Moreover, the fake-news reports are not even original. They are lifted from even earlier hoaxes that claimed that Earth was to experience three days of darkness.
The original version, which claimed that the three-day blackout was to occur in December 2012, suggested that the planet would shift to another dimension during the days of darkness. Another ‘three-day blackout’ version was built on the original but moved the ‘action’ to 21, 22 and 23 December 2014 and also blamed a solar storm.
All versions of this silly hoax falsely claim the event was confirmed by NASA.
