For the record, the highest number of babies born to one mother at one time is nine (Nonuplets). In 1971, a woman in Australia gave birth to 9 babies, but none of the babies lived more than six days. Then, in 1999, a woman in Malaysia also gave birth to 9 babies, but all died within 6 hours of birth.
This is not the only false message about a supposed multiple birth that has circulated in recent years. An unrelated hoax that has been passed around via email and social media since late 2011 falsely claims that a woman in India (or Indiana) gave birth to 11 babies.
