A video, which supposedly depicts a young woman being killed by a car after a prank goes horribly wrong, has circulated widely via social media websites and email.
Credits on the video identify it as “Exhibit B-5″ in a 2009 court case concerning the death of the girl. The video has generated a great deal of discussion, with many commentators maintaining the footage depicts a real accident while others suggesting that the incident was entirely staged.
In this case, the more sceptical commentators are correct. The incident shown in the video was indeed entirely staged and scripted. “Rachel”, the young prank victim featured in the film, was played by Cindy Vela, a US based actress and model. Vela includes the following information about the video on her Facebook page, along with pictures from the making of the film:
This is a short film entitled EXHIBIT B-5. It’s meant for entertainment purposes only. Credits include:
Written & Directed: Kyle Rankin
Digital FX: R. Zane Rutlege
Rachel (girl who dies): me/Cindy Vela
Sheri (blonde): Mircea Monroe
Neighbor (guy): Corin NemecNo mannequins were used and I can’t say exactly how we did it, but I did have to lay on top of and underneath the car. I have to applaud the special effects — the first time I saw it I was shocked. This was NOT a reenactment of a real story, and NOT a clip of a full length film.
The short film’s director is also identified as Kyle Rankin on Cindy Vela’s IMDb page. Kyle Rankin and other players have so far remained relatively tight-lipped about their involvement in the film. However, “Sheri”, the blond girl shown in the longer version of the film is clearly identifiable as the actress Mircea Monroe. And, the male accomplice in the longer version is also clearly identifiable as the actor Corin Nemec.
The film was posted on Claudia McKinney’s Youtube Channel along with another “Exhibit” film about a ghost attack.
