Posts claiming that veteran actor Clint Eastwood has died are circulating rapidly via social media.

However, the claims are untrue. Clint Eastwood is not dead.

Many of the false death posts come from a click-bait fake-news website that is designed to look like it is part of CNN.

The fraudulent website uses the CNN logo and includes “cnn” in it URL to make its spurious claims seem more believable. The site calls itself “CNN International Edition”, although it has no connection to CNN whatsoever. On its  About Page, the site claims the letters “CNN” in its name stand for “Chinese Network News”

The About Page also includes the following disclaimer

We are are a news site located in Singapore dedicated to bringing you the very best in satire news articles for the local Singaporean people along with international readers.

For the record, there are no credible news or media reports that support the claims that Clint Eastwood has died.  Of course, had the iconic star really passed away, his demise would be front-page news all around the world.
