Bora Bora Holiday Giveaway Facebook Scam

According to a Facebook Page called Canary Island Holidays, you can win a holiday for four people to Bora Bora by sharing a video, entering  the word “Done” as a comment, and clicking a link.

Supposedly, the person who initially won the prize failed to reply to her prize notification within the given 24 hour time period. So, claims the Page, the holiday is being given away again.

But, in fact, the giveaway is yet another Facebook survey scam. There is no prize and no amount of sharing, commenting, and clicking will give you the slightest chance of winning a holiday.

Like the seemingly endless stream of similar scams that precede it, the fake giveaway is designed to trick you into divulging your personal details on suspect “survey websites’.  The link in the post opens a third-party website that promises the chance to win further prizes in exchange for supplying your name and contact details.  But, the site will  share your information with marketing companies who will subsequently inundate you with unwanted offers via phone, SMS, email, and surface mail.

Following an increasing  trend, this scam Facebook Page is using video  in an effort to gain more potential victims and increase reach.

And, for the record, one wonders why a Facebook Page promoting Canary Islands  holidays would be offering a trip to Bora Bora given that the two destinations are a very long way apart.
